B Lunch Power Words

The BLunchers are in the process of making a Sisterhood poem, too, and today we focused on the words. Each word from last week was written on a sheet of paper and scattered on the floor in the middle of the circle of desks. Each Sister picked a word that personally resonated with her for some reason. Then we went around and talked about why we chose our word. Feel free to leave a comment about which word you chose and why...I couldn't write fast enough to get all of your insights on paper, but the other teacher Sisters and I were so impressed by what you had to say. More examples of the amazing wisdom of this group. Anyway, each Sister took her word with her and we'll craft the poem next week. I encourage you to put your word under the plastic on your binder (if you have one like that) and look at it all week. That word obviously has great meaning for you, so it might be nice to be reminded of it all week long.

Also, we talked more about our Sisterhood quilt. Please bring a pair of your old jeans to school (if you have one), and in the near future we will cut them into squares to make our quilt. Each girl will have 2 squares: one to personalize with her name and the other with her word. A Sister's mom will help us put the quilt together (thank you!). You can bring in the jeans anytime and leave them with me (Ms. Elliot) or Ms. Ramacciotti.

And Sisters, thanks for coming today and sharing more of yourselves. To quote Cyndi Lauper (80s pop star):

I see your true colors shining through
I see your true colors and that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
Your true colors
Are beautiful
Like a rainbow.

I couldn't be there today but wish I had, that's such a great idea! Every person has a special something that belongs to them and putting it in word form would be hard- but possible for the sisters! I know the poem will turn out beautifully see you next week!
