It was so great to see so many new faces and returning Sisters at our first Sisterhood discussion of the year! We kicked off the 2008-2009 Sisterhood with the topic of 'Giving Myself Permission.' Some of you Sisters may remember doing this last year, but I think it's always good to reflect on how we need to be kind to ourselves and give ourselves permission to:
*have fun
*take more risks
*feel good about your body
*make mistakes
*follow your own path
*show it when you're sad, angry, happy or ????
*be yourself and not worry about others' expectations
*be imperfect
*relax
Leave a comment if there is something else you'd like to give yourself permission to do. Chances are, you're not alone!!!!
And remember, the Sisters are here to listen to you without judgement and to encourage you to speak your mind and be your true self. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to really connect with other girls (and Sister teachers, too) at our amazing Pine Lake Sisterhood! See you next Thursday.

thanks so much for allowing me to visit today sisters! it was great to see the sisterhood in action!
I LOVE THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING LUNCHES!!
Hi.
To Ms Kiemle: I LOVE THE COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMGOMGOMG
Ya. Ok. Rant over.
As for giving yourself permission: I'd love to have some Earth-Shattering, insightful thing to say, but I don't.
It's funny how parents want you to be Eternally Grateful For How Lucky You Are and Always Work Your Hardest Because of How Unlucky You Are, though. Kinda funny, when you think about it...
Not saying that it's a BAD thing!
Have a great year Sisters! I miss all of you, especially all those big sisters. Pine Lake is the best.
:) Mrs. Hassmann
I think this 'Traveling lunches' idea is very creative. i am going to come to the sisterhood every thursday for the whole year!!!
aww. thanks ms.hassmann. we all miss you here at blunch, its just not the same. I think we don't give yourselves permission because we are afraid of what will happen and what people are going to think.
The sisterhood was great! I can't believe that there were so many people there! Can't wait for this thursday!! ^_^
*shrug.
When it comes to being yourself, ask yourself what you truly want in life? To have people love/like you? To be safe? To find youself?
What do you want the most? For me, it's too be good. So..
So give yourself permission to break rules once in a while! To be 'bad.' You'll get in trouble, but so what? If you understand what you did wrong and reasons behind your actions, distance youself from the idea that you can be perfect, you will achieve that.
Then after that? After that I want to be liked/loved, so...
So give yourself permission to be youself, not who you think you should be, around people, they'll love you for who you are.
After that I seek knowledge/self-knowledge. I haven't explored that level so much, but I'm sure you all can figure it out!
But it's funny...if you push aside the idea of perfection, you will, in a sense, achieve perfection.
PS: Not all of this is my own. Psychology fascinates me; I've drawn some of these conclusions, and part of the give yourself permission stuff, was drawn from tools like the Myers Briggs types and the enneagram.
