Magnetic Poetry by the Sisterhood

In both Lunches today we talked about creating a poem built from words contributed by the Sisters--like magnetic poetry. We brainstormed that the poem could be: What it means to be a _________________________ (girl, Sister, friend, genuine person)or even as a Bluncher teacher Sister suggested, to perhaps re-write the 'What are little girls made of' poem (btw, it's more than 'sugar and spice and everything nice!). Each Sister was given 2-3 notecards and asked to write a strong word on each...something with meaning. We are still brainstorming how we're going to do the poem. In A Lunch, we talked about putting the words on paper and then tying them together into a paper quilt,hanging it around the school, printing the poem and pinning in on the pants, posting it on the blog. In B Lunch, we talked about picking a word that resonates with you and wearing it for a day at school. A Sister thought it would be fun to write the word on a white t-shirt and then get together and tie-dye it. We then talked about making a real quilt, with each girl getting a square to decorate any way she wants and then sewing it all together. A Sister suggested that we leave a few blank squares to symbolize that the group is always open to new people; we always have room.

Wow! So many GREAT ideas. And we can do them all, if we want!!! Sisters are doers. Below I will post the words each Sisterhood came up with, in case any Sisters want to put together their own personal poem. Next week, we'll start on our group effort.
