Welcome back!

Hope all you Sisters had a nice break. It was nice to see everyone back today at the Sisterhood. We started by giving the Sisters who weren't able to come to the All-Sisterhood Luncheon a chance to sign the pants. Here's what the ALunchers and A Lunch Teachers had to say about the Sisterhood before brandishing the Sharpie. The question was, 'Why do you come to the Sisterhood?'
* It's a place where you talk to other girls and won't be made fun of. We talk about good, useful stuff, too.
* It's a fun place. It's good to hear about what other girls have to say about things that concern you.
* We talk about useful things that I've wondered about.
* To communicate with friends and make new friends and get to know everyone better
* It's better than being in the cafeteria and kinda fun, too.
The ALuncher teacher Sisters said:
* I like to get to know students in a different way, plus, I'm the mother of 3 boys and I like to be with the girls.
* I have 3 sons, too, and I like the girl time.
* When I hear you girls talk about things that are important to you, it's like I've been transported back 40+ years. I remember what is was like and it makes me a little sentimental and nostalgic.
* We went through the same things when we were in school and we remember!

The BLuncher pants-signers said:
* To be with friends and discuss stuff. It's really cool.
* I like to listen to what people think about stuff.
* It's fun and cool.
* To meet friends and talk
* It's fun to see that I'm not the only one--I'm not alone in my views.
The BLuncher teacher Sisters said:
* I like to see groups of girls who care about more than just clothes and shoes. It makes me feel good about the world in general.
* There is so much positive energy and positive voices here to make the school a better, more comfortable place. There is a lot of strong leadership at the Sisterhood.
* It's a safe place for girls and women. I like to see how much we all have in common and find our similarities. Hopefully we can help you get through some of the hard stuff that we went through.
* There's a sense of girl power. I love the ways we can see how we're all alike and how we're different, too and how we're building community here.
* I enjoy hearing your mature responses and thoughts. You wow me every week. It's neat to see the connections.
* It's nice to see new faces and get to know students who aren't in my classes.
* It's the most important, best work of my whole career. The Sisterhood energizes me. You Sisters are so incredible and each of you has something special and unique to offer. The Sisterhood is the best part of my week!!!!!

After the pants were signed, we talked about some upcoming events. The All-Sisterhood Luncheon was so fabulous, we would like to do some sort of All-Sisterhood gathering each trimester. For 2nd Trimester, we would like to do a Big Sister Tea. It will be toward the end of the Tri, after school, and you will invite a 'big sister'(an important woman in your life--maybe your mom or grandma, aunt or real big sister, neighbor, mentor, teacher, etc.). We will dress up a bit (hey--a Sister can be a little fancy if she wants to) and drink tea, eat scones and tiny finger sandwiches, the works. So, start thinking about who you'd like to invite. We will let you know the date of the tea as soon as we get it nailed down. We will give you a letter to give to your 'big sister' and ask her to bring a pearl of wisdom to share at the tea, something like, 'What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were 12,13, or 14?' For trimester 3, we'd like to do an All-Sisterhood sleepover at school on a Friday night. Movies! Games! Pizza! Junk food! Girl Talk! We'll keep you posted...

Also, based on a comment left on the last post, we are going to start a new feature on our blog. The comment was:

I wonder about having some sort of a Blog column where sisters can ask for input/advice, etc. about girl problems that many may have experienced and learned from.

This is such a great idea and the Sisters have a wealth of insight. Soooo, if you have something you'd like to ask the Sisters for input on, just leave a comment on the blog titled with the word 'Question' or 'Input/Advice Needed' All comments go directly to my email before they are posted. When I see that there is an issue, I will put it on the blog as a new post. Then girls can click on 'comments' and leave their input or advice. Remember, this is all anonymous. Feel free to utilize this new feature anytime. I think it will be yet another valuable component of The Sisterhood.
